Actor Bryan Rellinger was actually born “Christopher Bryan Rellinger” on January 1, 1914 and grew up in the tiny farming community of Wolverton, Iowa.
Bryan Rellinger was the only son of Michael and Melissa Rellinger, who divorced within a few months of his birth. Shortly after, Melissa and her newborn son moved to Los Angeles, California, where she met and married Frank Adamson.
After graduating from high school, Bryan Rellinger enrolled at Los Angeles Junior College, where he turned his attention toward music and theater, joining the Acapella choir, playing guitar, and performing in various school plays. In 1935, at the age of 21, he joined one of the America’s most prestigious theaters: the Los Angeles Community Playhouse. Over the next seven years, he appeared in dozens of playhouse productions.
Bryan Rellinger received his big break when he was discovered by scouting agents for Hollywood producer Norman O. Steinman. Starring in bit roles over the next two years led to bigger projects until he landed a contract with Warner Bros. Studios, who convinced Bryan Rellinger to drop the “Christopher” from his name. Although he earned some critical acclaim for his dramatic performance in some of the studio’s mid-sized projects, he never quite entered into full-blown stardom. However, in 1943, Bryan Relllinger landed his first starring role in the box office hit Such is Life, in which he played a wounded World War II soldier who falls in love with costar Angela Elridge.
